There are many things that differentiate
Japanese company from the regular company around the world. Mostly, factors
will be about working culture and manner that Japanese people hold on to it
firmly.
The list I am about to indicate down here
will be scooping down to just what I personally observed through couple companies I have been to. They are NOT fixed to every companies. Please consider this fact while reading and I do hope you enjoy!
Here they are
1.
THEY ARE QUIET ….
(ア) YES THEY ARE… ok that was a lot of caps, working culture here
basically telling you that you are NOT suppose to talk while working. People
will automatically think that you are slacking off. Other than talking about work,
the working environment here is like a dying forest where everyone is just
focusing on either their own computer or work in front of them. No talking
about personal life or, How are you – type of questions.
2.
Who is that guy? Uh, I don’t know
too.
(ア) Here is what literally happen, the departments are separated far
apart that no one knows who that person is. It is hard to recognize everyone.
Especially for foreigner like us, remembering names is like damn difficult.
3.
Eating
(ア) Hey! It is very hard to find cafeteria here in working place, esp
office, in Japan. I do believe that not only this but many other companies as
well, do not have its own cafeteria, why? The rent of the office is already sky
high. Many companies can barely effort the rent of its own office, esp bigger
company, not to the Large size companies, but Mid-small type companies. You
either bring food from your house aka. Bento 弁当 to your work place or just go out and eat at places around your
company. There is no general cafeteria in your office either. Eating in the
office is totally ok (well in the good manner that is… not like you are going
to bring Durian and eat them in the office. Respecting others are considering
important as well.)
4.
Dazed out
(ア) You always see 先輩 (higher rank
co-worker) works so hard till very late at night and still coming to work every
day regularly despite that busyness. People sometimes just dazed out during
work or just like fall half sleep on the table. We understand it.
5.
Drinking
(ア) Drinking after work with your friend or higher rank people is
absolutely normal here. No drinking in between work though!
6.
Female workers
(ア) What kind of sad there in Japan which still remains until now is gender
discrimination. Female workers here mostly have to do serving and cleaning more
than male even though they have almost the same amount of work. There are specific
role here that female workers have to follow… I think this is differ between
companies.
That is all for now… reminding yourself
while reading this that this is just pure observation. Different companies have
different ways of treating their employees. This does not mean that Japanese
companies are bad. They are awesome. I love it as that they are one of the most
stressful working environment. I do think that it is true. Amount of pressure
here is just too damn great
Cheer!
Wow! I find these interesting! What if one does not know how to make bento? Haha. I like people who are serious at work but all work and no play (or interactions) even there is no project is... sad?!
ReplyDeleteI know right?! too serious at work with no reaction is not just even sad... it makes the environment around you SLEEPY! yes.. sleepy as hell.
Deletenot knowing how to make bento, the only way to cope with it is go out and pay around 400 yen or so to buy bento from convenient stores or bento shop around .... which taste sucks.. I rather spend my time before I sleep to make them... ahahaha at least it have my own taste in it!
Start a restaurant with tasty & affordable menu in JP and be rich! :D No more salary man!
